The Shoreline Historical Museum has an extensive archival research collection available to the public. The Archives covers a wide variety of local subjects, including the Duwamish Tribe and pioneer family names and family files for genealogical research. The collection includes primary documents, clipping files, books and over 8,000 photographs. Many of the photos have been scanned. While items can not be checked out, they can be studied at the Museum, and many items can be copied for a small fee. The archives is open on Wednesdays 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or by appointment. It is recommended that you call ahead to make sure the materials related to your research topic are available when you come in.
The Shoreline Historical Museum participated in The King County Snapshots Project with the Museum of History and Industry and the University of Washington, along with several other local museums. Thousands of photos relating to Washington history are available on the site, including a selection of photos from the Shoreline Historical Museum collection.
